About This Course

How we respond to change, take care of ourselves, and open our minds to embracing perspectives and experiences that are different from our own are all important factors in our success in workplace and ultimately our careers. In this course you will be introduced to concrete strategies to help you adapt to changes and shifting of priorities, effectively manage stress and focus on wellness, foster your own self-awareness, and counter unconscious bias at work.

Course Curriculum

Part I – Managing Change Well

Learn the skills of managing change and reactions to the change in a business setting. Understand organizational change management needs and the importance of acquiring the knowledge and tools to implement any change effectively. Consider that when a workgroup experience changes, it is the whole organization that changes, as well as the behaviours of individuals. New behaviors result and different business outcomes are achieved. In other words, organizations don’t change; only people within organizations.

Part II - Your Stress and Wellness Skills

Physical and emotional stress reservoirs are within each of us – each having their unique triggers and demonstrations. Many of us experience stress in life. Not only can this be profoundly unpleasant, but it can also seriously affect our health and our work. You will learn methods to manage stress by using the right tools and techniques.

Part III - Countering Unconscious Bias

Unconscious bias is often rooted in or created by specific cultural, gender, or socioeconomic stereotypes that you may or may not be aware of. Unconscious biases can help you think and make decisions quickly. However, they are implicit biases, and that means you do not know the extent of their possible impact on our thinking and decision-making processes. In this workshop, you will develop your self-awareness of what may be your unconscious biases and learn inclusive communication techniques to build your spectrum of communication.
